Automated monitoring of target group development over time

In this project, employees of Chancenwerk are to be supported in leveraging the potential of their evaluation data from surveys of their target group more effectively and in making recurring workflows more efficient through meaningful automation. This helps them, in particular, to have more time for working with children and adolescents and to better understand their needs.

Project Description

Challenge

Chancenwerk, as a non-profit educational association, supports children and adolescents on their educational journey whose families cannot assist them for financial, time-related, or linguistic reasons. To capture the impact of their work and communicate it to funders, panel data is collected every six months. The goal of this project is to help Chancenwerk better utilize the potential of their data, including deeper analysis—particularly regarding the performance development of children and adolescents over time. Since the creation of reports is currently done manually, this step should be automated as much as possible, and the results should be visually prepared. Optionally, the questionnaire can be revised and expanded with suitable questions.

Data

The primary data source is the semi-annual panel survey of children and adolescents participating in Chancenwerk's programs, collected via LamaPoll. Additionally, registration data for Chancenwerk's programs (socio-economic data) could be used (subject to agreement).

Project Goals and Contents

The project focuses on automating processes that currently require significant manual effort and preparing them in a report that can be used long-term by Chancenwerk staff. There is also the opportunity to revise the questionnaire and/or conduct exploratory analysis of cross-sectional data.

The main contents of the project are:

  • Identification of relevant variables in the data to map the development of children and adolescents over time (analysis of longitudinal data)
  • Preparation of evaluations in an automated report for external communication, to be used continuously by Chancenwerk staff
  • Graphical preparation of the reports
  • Optional:
    • Develop ideas for expanding/improving the questionnaire
    • Exploratory data analysis of cross-sectional data and testing various hypotheses, e.g., "Does the data need to be analyzed regionally, or are the differences not significant?"

Result and Social Impact

The most important output of the project should be an automated report capturing the long-term impact of the work with children and adolescents, with results presented visually.

The project outputs will directly help Chancenwerk staff streamline recurring workflows, allowing them to focus more on their work with children and adolescents. Additionally, the results will help better understand the impact of their work and the needs of the target group.
