Python package to access the Genesis database

The GENESIS Python project aims to improve and standardize the accessibility of the databases of the federal and state statistical offices. For this purpose, a Python library was developed that allows access to the various databases with a uniform interface and provides the information relevant to the user in a way that is optimal for further data processing, analysis and visualization. All supported portals (Destatis, regional statistics, census) provide access to the same database: the GENESIS online database of the Federal Statistical Office, which contains a large number of tables.
